These black XPE roll out mats are a scientific wonder in and of themselves. XPE foam is a cross-linked polyethylene foam created through a process of high pressure and heat. What makes XPE flooring superior to many traditional EVA mats is that XPE foam is manufactured in long continuous sheets.

Using a specialist sheet extrusion machine, the XPE foam is stretched over metal rollers to create a continuous mat which can be produced in multiple lengths, including 3m, 6m and 12m roll out mats. This process avoids the need for greasy release agents that can create slippery training surfaces.

Why Choose XPE Mats Instead of EVA Foam Mats?

Traditional EVA foam mats are manufactured by heating EVA plastic and injecting it into molds. The molds are coated with a release agent to stop the foam from sticking. Similar to a non-stick coating on a pan, this release agent can leave a greasy residue on the mat surface.

As a result, new EVA mats often require a breaking-in period before achieving reliable grip levels. During those early training sessions, reduced traction can negatively impact sparring, grappling and striking performance.
